Responsibilities:
• For educational or corporate training solutions, assemble digital or instructor-led content and decide how to present this information using the best available instructional strategies and practices, such as adult learning principles.
• Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts, such as existing gaps and customer learning/training systems.
• Oversee project initiation with respect to scope of project, confirmation of roles and responsibilities, and development of work-plans and schedules as it pertains to the instructional design resources.
• Develop and maintain all applicable project design documentation, including Instructional Design Plans, Design Documents and Storyboards
• Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer.
• Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product.
• Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
• Decide on the criteria used to judge learners’ performance and develop assessment instruments
• Work closely with customers, project managers, lead instructional designers and development teams.
Requirements:
• Graduate degree in a related field (Educational Technology, Education, or Instructional Design) OR more than 5 years’ experience designing top quality learning solutions.
• 3 – 5 years of experience in multiple modes of delivery: instructor-led training, virtual instructor-led training, e-Learning & blended learning solutions.
• Working knowledge of learning theories and their application in digital & traditional training methods.
• Experience in assessing & analyzing training needs, data analysis and identifying solution approaches (recommendations).
• Experience in applying common instructional design techniques and learning theories.
• Strong understanding of the benefits and application of multimedia and digital technologies for achieving learning objectives.
• Ability to make independent decisions to trade off features against available development time and resources.
• Knowledge of and experience in measurement & evaluation strategies & implementation.
• Effective problem-solving skills with an ability to provide strategic input into customer requirements.
• Ability to remain objective, and base recommendations and decisions on sound business principles and user requirements.
• Strong interpersonal, relationship management and consulting skills.
• Be comfortable in a job that is frequently self-directed and have the self-motivation to get the job done.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize with little direction.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to give presentations.
• Keen attention to detail and diligently practices quality control checks.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively & effectively as part of project team.
• Able to interact directly with internal clients or Subject Matter Experts as required.
• Proven ability to work within allocated budgets & timelines.
• Diligent at following GP Canada Operational standards (e.g. time tracking, capacity forecasting, file saving conventions, project status reporting etc.).
• Flexibility to work onsite and travel to clients as required.
As well as the skills and attributes listed above, the following would be considered an asset:
• Bilingual capabilities (English and French, verbal and written).
• Experience in or knowledge of all aspects of multimedia production.
• Knowledge of rapid e-learning authoring tools such as Storyline, Captivate, Articulate and Lectora.
• Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-Learning standards (AICC/SCORM).
